Everyone like to read right?   Well all these makers of e-readers are banking on that fact and in keeping with last week’s theme of the Kindle, Barnes & Noble has just announced an update to its Nook!  So let’s dive in and see what this new hardware has to offer.

It’s a 6” touch-screen with an e-ink screen.  Like with the Kindle, the e-ink screen is freakishly similar to reading a book.  The use of this technology also allows you to read in the bright sun with no issues.  The update to the e-ink screen promises 50% more contrast than the previous edition Nook.  No need to worry about the Nook weighing down your purses or book-bags (maybe that’s what Kevin Durant keeps there?!) as it stunningly weighs only 8 ounces.  You would think that with such a small frame, the battery was terrible, right?  Well don’t be fooled, you can get up to 2 months on a single charge, doubling the Kindle.

Most books are priced at $9.99 and B&N has access to a library of 2 million books and 1,000 books can be stored at a time on your Nook.   Additionally, you can borrow books from local libraries and share books with other Nook users.  The nook connects to wifi for easy downloading and when you are in a Barnes & Noble store you can easily connect to the in-store wifi and you’re allowed up to one hour of free reading in-store of Nook books.  The new nook costs $139 and will be available June 10, but is available for pre-order right now.
