Alright we’re back with another edition of Tech Thursdays here on ItsHeyNow.com with your boy @algrin. Since lots of the promotion for the site happens on twitter, why not talk about twitter today. Twitter has overtaken the once popular Myspace as the go to place for social networking. A popular mis-conception for people’s status updates is “i’m in the bathroom” but I can guarantee you it’s a lot more than that. Twitter is based on following people that you’re interested in. This can range from your group of friends to celebrities and news reporters. Following the right people can make or break your twitter experience. Personally, I follow all my friends and lots of sports beat writers, as i’m a sports fan. These people are highly connected to the team’s and they can provide valuable real-time information. For example, I was in a fantasy league a few years back and because of twitter I knew of a late change to a lineup that sealed me a win while my friend had to wait for a bottom line crawl to get the same type of info. FACE!

Now let’s talk about access to twitter, you can do it on the web via twitter.com or tons and tons of apps. Since twitter is real-time, the best and most efficient way to access it is using a phone. You can sign up for text alerts and send your tweet using text if you have a basic phone without internet. Smartphones open up a realm of possibilities for applications. The best app and most popular for the blackberry is UberSocial. For the iPhone I prefer Twitter for iPhone, but Echofon is also good. My good friend @GreggDisinforms uses Twidroyd on his android. Hey, @Jon_Pride and @ItsHeyNow what’s good on windows mobile?! You’re the only one rocking that lol.

Twiter is definitely a revolution, companies, news networks, celebrities, bars all use it to get info out there. Now yes, there is definitely a lot of unnecessary info there that gives twitter a bad name, but its all in fun.
So in closing…. Follow me @algrin
