L.A. Pride is a true sports enthusiast. A former youth, and division II assistant basketball coach, who studied the martial arts, he enjoys and follows all sports, even hockey. His quick wit and insight brings a fresh view to the world of sports. You may not always agree with him, but you will enjoy his highly opinionated thoughts.
Is it me…
Or is good to see the regular NFL officials back to work? The fans and players showed the returning officials a lot of love before the games started. The games were better officiated and played at normal speed.

Or are the N.Y. Jets that bad? Shutout 34-0 by the 49’ers.
Or did we really think Arizona, Atlanta and Houston would be undefeated at this point in the season?
Or did we have New Orleans winless after four weeks? Even with the ‘bounty gate’ suspensions we thought New Orleans would have won a game by now.
Or is it too early to list NFL prospects and suspects? NO!
Prospects:
Arizona, Atlanta, Chicago, Green Bay, Houston Minnesota, Philadelphia, and San Diego.
Suspects:
N.Y. Jets, New Orleans, Carolina, Seattle, and Detroit.
NFL teams continue to adjust and shape their rosters;

Or did the U. S. Ryder Cup team choke? Leading 10-6 going into Sunday’s single matches, the U.S. Ryder Cup Golf team, was overtaken by the Euro team and suffered the biggest final day collapse in the history of the tournament. And we had Tiger!
Is it me…
Or is the WNBA Playoffs a well-kept secret? The playoffs are in progress and no one knows. It is a shame because they play a quality game in the WNBA.

Show the ladies some love.
Minnesota and Seattle are tied at one game apiece;*
L.A. Sparks won the series versus the San Antonio Spurs
Atlanta and Indiana are tied at one game apiece;*
Connecticut Sun knocked out N.Y. Liberty in two straight games. (So much for the Liberty winning the whole thing.)
*Final series game ended after we went to press.
NBA training camps are opening shortly. Let the games begin!
The Miami Heat won’t admit it but they are very concerned about D-Wade’s health. Wade plays with a reckless abandon and his body is beginning to feel it. Wade is only 30, but it is an old 30. We are going to have to keep an eye on Wade. That said, the Heat is the favorite coming out of the East.
In the West, we like the Lakers, provided Dwight Howard heals and is there at the beginning of the season.
The N.Y. Knicks think they can compete in the East because of their veteran leadership. Last time I looked veteran leadership were buzzwords for ‘we have an old team, that might steal a game or two.’ The Knicks are building in reverse, they are bringing in old guys. Only the Knicks!!!!!!
Coach Karl, Denver Nuggets, believes the NBA is only hurting itself trying to compete against football. He would start the season later and play fewer games. Obviously, Karl is not an owner. The owners have stadiums that need fannies in seats. This is how they make money by selling seats and concessions to fans. Great idea Coach, but you can believe that they would rather add games than cut games. Empty stadiums mean empty pockets!
NBA teams are adjusting their rosters. Please follow this link for the latest information on your team:

Or are Floyd and Manny finally getting the message?
Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao are settling a federal defamation case in Las Vegas, clearing a key hurdle to a long-awaited bout between two top fighters who’ve traded verbal jabs for years but have never met in the ring.
A match between Floyd and Manny could be the greatest moneymaker of all times. These two need to put aside their petty differences and make hi$tory.

Or did baseball do itself right this year? Major League Baseball has managed to have competitive races down to the wire, in almost every division, in addition to a possible Triple Crown winner, Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera. As of Tuesday Cabrera led the league in all three categories, batting average, home runs, and runs batted in. This has not been done since 1967. Go Miguel!!!!!!
