He didn’t “change it up” or “go commercial.” This song was originally released on his Lace Up mixtape, over a year before he was signed (or even known). He was mixing genres and making (some) radio friendly hits way before the label. I mention this only because every backpacker on every website is going to start accusing him of “becomming” commercial. Not true — he hasn’t changed, and this song (which I love) has nothing to do with the label.
I completely understand and respect what you are saying but since he was signed he hasn’t sound like this. I don’t think changing it up or going commercial is a bad thing just something different from what his NEWER fan base is use to. When it comes to music artist are smarter. They make music to get played on all stations now days, not just one . You want to get played on pop and hip hop stations and with this record MGK is trying to make that possible for himself. Agree? Disagree?
